English "commentary" for the World Cup?

We will be in France during the Cup and DH would love to watch it on TV but with English commentary. We%26#39;ll be in a rented apartment in Cannes for a month. Is there an English satellite sports channel one could subscribe to?

Might a local %26quot;pub%26quot; air matches in English?

BTW, this is the %26quot;only English%26quot; that is desired during our stay LOL. He is such a fan of soccer and so looks forward to it. I said I%26#39;d inquire here for him.

Hard to say for cannes, in Paris most Irish/english/american bars have english sports (skysports). For TV I don%26#39;t know who got the rights for the worldup in England if it%26#39;s the BBC then you might be able to get through cable. The two biggest sattelite TV providers in France will have British channels but I guess it might not be possible to subscribe just for 1 month.

He might have to watch in french, that way at least the world cup will have some kind of pedagogical value!

The BBC I believe has the exclusive English broadcast rights (ABC %26amp; ESPN in the US) to the 2006 World Cup events and as noted there will certainly be ex-pat, English/Irish pubs and sports-bars in Cannes, with satelite feeds that will pick up the BBC satelite feeds and big screen TVs. Somehow I can%26#39;t imagine an English/Irish pub/sports-bar, worth its beer %26amp; chips, that would broadcast an event this important in anything other than English.

We%26#39;ve probably seen the pubs mentioned on the list, but never gone in (we prefer the Belgium beers hmm); we%26#39;ll make a point of it when arriving at the end of May.
