travel from paris

we are travelling to paris for 4 days in early december by eurostar what is the easiest way to get to the tulip inn at Bussy-Saint-georges ? also would we benefit from travel passes and if so to cover what zones any help appreciated

Eurostar arrives at Gare du Nord so you would need to transfer within the station to RER-B, then change to RER-A at station Chatelet-les Halles. If that sounds like too much (with luggage), then you could take a taxi from Gare du Nord to Chatelet-les Halles, then go down to the RER system to line A. The direction you need is to Marne-la-Vallee/Disney. See the RER system map at www.ratp.com

Bussy St George has an RER station, 2 stops before Disney (RER-A), and it%26#39;s in zone 5. So if you wanted a pass, you would need one for zones 1-5. The less expensive one is the Carte Orange, which would cost 30.7euro, and is valid Mon-Sun, and the id card requires a small photo (you can just cut one out or use digi-camera..) Otherwise, there is a tourist pass %26quot;Paris Visite%26quot; that is good for either 3 days (37.35e) or 5 days (45.70e). You buy any of these at the ticket window in Gare du Nord (%26quot;billets%26quot;) or Chatelet-les Halles.

The Tulip Inn is walkable from the RER gare, about 200 meters.

Address: 44, Boulevard Antoine Giroust 77600

My guess is that it is located on the %26#39;Grand Place%26#39;. There is a boulangerie/patisserie across from the train station on Place Fulgence Bienvenue. We%26#39;ve only gone there for golf, so I don%26#39;t have restaurant info.

Just to add a little to travelnuttys%26#39;s comprehensive post:

If you are travelling with children, the Paris Visite pass is available for children ages 4 to 11 at approximately half the price of the adult pass. There is no reduced price Carte Orange for children.

The single use return fare from Bussy-St-G to anywhere in Paris by RER and metro is approximately 12€.

A one-day pass called Mobilis is available. The cost is 12.10€ for Zones 1-5. This will give you unlimited travel for a full day on the RER, metro and buses for all 5 zones. It would be a better buy than the Paris Visite pass. Again there is no reduced price Mobilis pass for children.

Whether the Carte Orange is a good buy depends on the day you are arriving in Paris. You can buy the pass for the current (Monday to Sunday) week up to Wednesday. The pass for the following seek is available from Friday onward.

Finally, if you are staying in Bussy-St-G because you are going to Disneyland, you do not need or want a pass for that day as single use tickets to/from Marne-la-Vallée will be much cheaper.

If any of this is not clear, give another shout.
