Any info on St. Cannat ?

We%26#39;re visiting Provence next April for the first time. I%26#39;ve found a house to rent by the week in St.Cannat, It seems like a good central location, close to Aix not to far from Avignon %26amp; Isle sur la Sorgue, all places we%26#39;d like to spend time in.

There will be 6 of us at that point so we%26#39;ll likely have a vehicle. Nothing is set in concrete yet. But I like to research before heading out. Does anyone have any info on St.Cannat any recommendations ? thanks.

Hi Auntjenny

If you are going to look around Provence I think that you might find that you are a little out of the way, tho convenient for Aix.

Dear Auntjenny,

Depending upon what part of Provence you want to visit - we live just down the road and find it a good location for the places you mention and western provence but not convenient for parts of the coast.

It depends on how much driving you want to do.

Try the Mas de Fauchon outside of St Cannat - nice restaurant.

Thank you for your replys. I%26#39;m still trying to decede if I%26#39;d rather be based in Isle slaS.

or St. Cannat. We don%26#39;t want to be to far into the countryside , walking distance to a village/town, short drive to a larger city {Aix or Avignon]. I%26#39;ve been pouring over house rental sites/ the message boards on this great site and looking carefully at maps, ahh decisions decisions. With 6 people we all have things we%26#39;d like to see %26amp; do.

Auntjenny,

If it were me a would opt for Isle sur la Sorgue.

The town itself is delightful to walk around lots of shops and cafes to sit and people watch from.

Parking is a nighmare there and on Sundays there is a very popular market which is worth going to but again watch the parking.

You are also nicely placed for the Luberon National Park with many hill top small villages (if you have not already done so read Peter Mayle%26#39;s A Year in Provence which is set in the Luberon).

Fountaine de Vaucluse which is the source of the water running through Isle is a must to see.

Avignon is easily reached from Isle as are the vinyards of Cote du Rhone.

There are lots of sporting facilities including golf, cycle hire etc in the surrounding area.
