Can you advise if these passes (looking at 3 day pass) are able to be bought in Paris metro train stations or elsewhere, or is it more economical to purchase these before visiting Paris.
Thanks kindly

Hi August (is that when you are going to Paris?), there have been quite a few posts on this recently. Museum passes have changed lately and you can only get 2, 4 and 6 day passes for 30, 45 and 60 Euros respectivley (consecutive days so consider 2x2 rather than a 4) and the local wisdom is (a) get them in Paris and (b) (I think) they are not available at metro stations any more so buy one at a lesser known museum to avoid lines. If I have (b) wrong, I am sure you will get a barrage of replies to give you the %26quot;good oil%26quot;

They definitely CANNOT be bought at metro and RER stations anymore, this information was relayed directly by email to me from intermusee (the company who supply these passes), they can be bought at any of the museums/galleries that are on the pass list, and at the tourist offices in Paris. I think also at Fnac stores.

In addition to the sound advice above, you might go direct to the source at www.parismuseumpass.com for detailed info and website links to participating museums. Once the site loads, you can click on the English language version. This is the official site for the pass by InterMusee, not a third party.

The passes are also for sale at Eurostar terminal in London Waterloo.
We didn%26#39;t buy one and were glad we didn%26#39;t as it is only 7.5 Euros for Louvre and the same for musee d%26#39;orssay. That was enough for us museum wise so make sure you are visiting enough before you fork out for the pass.

Thanks i this is helpful too...i am finding great things on here that i haven%26#39;t even thought of!

In terms of cost comparison between a museum pass and individual museum and monument entry fees, I can%26#39;t think of a time that we have done any better than %26#39;break even%26#39; on museum passes..***BUT***...the %26#39;intangible%26#39; benefits of the museum pass are that it may allow you to save precious TIME by-passing ticket lines (but not security checkpoints). It also allows to to serrendipitiously %26#39;drop-in%26#39; on places that you might otherwise walk-on-by if you had to stop and figure the cost/benefit of individual admission fees and the time spent waiting on ticket lines. With the pass, you can simply %26#39;drop in%26#39;, have a quick look %26#39;round...if you like what you find, then remain for a longer visit...or simply leave and move on to somewhere/something else. More personal %26#39;gems%26#39; have probably been %26#39;discovered%26#39; in this way than any other.
There is also another intangible (albeit less %26#39;cultural%26#39;) benefit to having the pass. The best public restrooms in Paris tend to be in museums...and there are museums covered by the pass all over Paris.

I am also looking into museum passes. I found one for $80.00 for 6 days from gotoparis.net. We will be in Paris for 10 days. Is there any difference between the different companies/sites offering passes? Is one more reliable than the other? Is is better to get 2 2day passes or does it just depend on my daiy plans?

Do NOT buy yur Museum Pass from any third party site. Unless you like being overcharged that is...
Buy it in Paris, and ONLY in Paris from one of the places listed on the ONLY official Paris Museum pass site
www.parismuseumpass.com
which has an English language option.
