driving from Bordeaux train station down to La Reole

We will be renting a car at Gare St. Jean in June and need to drive down to La Reole. How does one get from the train station to the A62/E72? La Reole is on the N13 but A62/E72 looks like a freeway and a faster route.

Head towards the river (if you are picking up your car behind the train station, you%26#39;ll want to turn left leaving the parking lot) and turn right when you get to the Quai de Paludate. Follow the signs to the Rocade, which is the Bordeaux%26#39;s ring road, to Exit 19 to get onto the A62. Stay on the autoroute past Langon and get off at Exit 4--La Reole will be indicated.

Perhaps it just a point of linguistics, but the A62 isn%26#39;t a freeway--you%26#39;ll have to pay a toll when you get off.

You can also use

www.viamichelin.com

to give you detailed directions for the entire route and printable maps. That way your designated navigator (you do have one, right?) will have no problem keeping you on the right track. Always remember that a good navigator is worth his/her weight in foie gras and should be treated accordingly.

There is no champagne, no wine, not even an %26#39;82 Haut-Brion, too good for your navigator!

PS: I Meant to add - Get a good (1:200,000 scale Michelin is probably best) map of the region, preferably before you get to Bordeaux so you can get a feel for the %26quot;lay of the land%26quot; before you arrive. If you are going to be driving around, your navigator will need it.

Thank you so much for that very helpful information! We have the Michelin map and the detailed directions from M.Markham so we should be in fine shape.
