3 days in Paris

Hi,

I have planned for 2 nights/ 3 days in Paris in mid May. I have planned to reach Paris by Eurostar early morning at 11:00 on the 1st day and leave on the 3rd day at 21:00 hrs. We are 2 couples and a child.

We have planned the 2nd day for Disneyland, I feel we will have to give full day for that ..right .. or do we have any more places to visit nearby Disneyland ..

Can someone suggest the best utilization for the 1st and the 3rd day .. I will staying close to the Gare du Nord station.

Regards,

Dear anto999,

Given that you will realy only have the afternoon/evening available (once you get settled into your hotel) on your 1st day you might like to consider a self guided walking tour of Montmartre. You will be staying very close by. Try www.paristoolkit.com. This site has 10 easy to follow (with maps provided) self guided walking tours of Paris. Their Montmartre walk commences at Place de Clichy and ends at Anvers but you could start at Anvers as it is closer to Gare du Nord. You can also follow the walk to the end or finish at any point along the way if you have a young child who gets tired.

You can catch metro line 4 (in the direction Porte de Clignancourt) at Gare du Nord but you will need to change to line 2 (in the direction Porte Dauphine) at Barbes Rochechouart) and get off at Anvers. Alternatively you could walk. When you get to Anvers walk directly north up rue de Steinkerque. This street is full of interesting (and some tacky) shops but the real bonus is that it provides a stunning view of Sacre Couer as you get further up, The walk is not strenuous. When you reach the base of Sacre Couer you can walk up through the park using the stairs (watch out for the young bracelet weavers. We didn%26#39;t have any problem but some people report feeling a bit threatened. They are just trying to make a few euros and if you are waving your arm around they might just weave one on you and then ask to be paid) or if you look to your left as you face the church you will see the Funicular which will take you up for the cost of a metro ticket.

There is also a %26#39; touristic %26#39; train (The Petit Train de Montmartre) with commentary which runs through the area every 30 minutes or so. Their Paris number is 0142622400. This would get you around and save your legs.

If you visit the paristoolkit site you will see 9 other walks that might provide some ideas/choices for your 3rd day. I wouldn%26#39;t miss the Eiffel Tower and for the best view (it%26#39;s breathtaking) try to approach it from Trocadero. you could use metro line 2 again, get off at Charles de Gaulle Etoile, change to line 6 (in the direction Nation), get off at Trocadero and walk down through the park and across the Seine to Tour Eiffel. There is a small %26#39;carnival%26#39; area to the right as you come over the Pont d%26#39;lena. I don%26#39;t know the age of the child you will be travelling with but it might be a nice diversion.

Whatever you decide I hope it will be wonderful.

As you have very little time, take a one-hour boat trip along the River Seine so you will get to see a lot and won%26#39;t have to walk a lot with the children

Sorry ..continuing my last post :

1. Reaching Paris on 17th May at 11:00 hrs by Eurostar.

2. Staying at Ibis Paris Gare du Nord Chateau Landon in District 10

3. Leaving Paris on 19th May at 21:00 hrs by Eurostar.

I am still confused after Marie%26#39;s reply.

Can someone please provide specific answers taking into consideration, I have a 2 yr old kid also.

1. As I had written earlier, I am planning to go to Disneyland on the 2nd day i.e. 18th May , as it happens to be my son%26#39;s B%26#39;day .. will it be worth a go ... can I also plan some place close by along with Disneyland on the 2nd day .

2. Can you provide me specific best places to visit in Paris and the day/time to visit for the 17th %26amp; 19th May ... I do know that 3 days is less , but can%26#39;t help it

3. How to take care of the transport.. What will be best and most economical travel option. Also , can you also provide links for the Paris rail network. Which is the site where I can look at the journey planner .. like for London,,we have www.tfl.gov.uk

4. What Vegetarian food to eat in Paris, as most of us would be Vegis ..

5. If you feel Disney is not a good option, then what can I fit for the 2nd day.

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Anto ~%26gt; Please don%26#39;t take this the wrong way but what would a 2 year old possibly get out of Disneyland other than being totally overwhelmed and tired?

|||

Thanks onward for your reply.

Actually, Disneyland came to my mind because its my kids B%26#39;day on 18th , so probably we wud enjoy seeing the disney characters and probably enjoy some rides ..and we enjoy it with him .

Is there any better place where we can celebratre and enjoy his B%26#39;day ( a kid%26#39;s place ) ..

Also, please reply to my yesterday%26#39;s post ..

Thanks in advance,

Anto I%26#39;m not familiar with kids places at all in Paris. It%26#39;s hard to say with a 2 year old as well. They%26#39;re at that age where they like hanging with mom and dad anyway. But you are right the characters are something your child would like and in that respect you would like Disney. I guess I was thinking more for the adults. It would be much different if the child were even a bit older. You wouldn%26#39;t be able to stop them from going there for their birthday. Still it%26#39;s a nice time out for the birthday.

Enjoy!

Yes, onward .. you are right.

I somehow thot of keeping the day for my son. Definitely, we wud also enjoy Disney with the kid.

Can you provide more insight regarding the itenary for rest of the two days

Thanks,

Anto ~%26gt; I think if you were to give some clues as to what the adults in your group like to do together it may help people make suggestions. Personally, I%26#39;m a person who likes some things fairly unplanned. If you have three days and one is really planned out maybe you%26#39;d like a day just to spend time looking around at sights without the pressure of it all being organized.

Onward,

I cannot do a complete planning as it fairly difficult task to do with a two year kid . I wanted to get the names of the best places to visit that can be covered in two days time.

Also, some place that i can visit along with Disney (on the 2nd day) ..

just getting the best places ( around 6 - 8)to visit, would help me a lot.

Regards,

Anto
