romantic get-a-ways near paris

hi again all!

we are in paris currently and have received a reprieve by delta and can stay additional days. yay! we%26#39;d now like to dip into the countryside and go somewhere terribly romantic. can anyone suggest a historic, old, charming inn or chateau or castle to stay in for 3-4 days? no car, so travel between 2-4 hours by train or plane around paris would be good. we%26#39;d like to stay somewhere that is enchanting enough in itself that we%26#39;re not searching for something to do...but just lingering with a good book or enjoying the atmosphere.

any ideas? i am clueless about this area and appreciate any and all the help...

sincerely!

Hi muse -

What%26#39;s your budget?

There%26#39;s a place in Reims - champagne capital of the world - but it ain%26#39;t cheap...

Go the Relais et Châteaux web site and look at the Auberge des Templiers, in Les Bézards; you could,I think, take the train to nearby Gien and then a taxi. The Auberge is extremely nice and has an excellent restaurant. The ground include a pool with lawn swings and lush shrubbery and flowers.
