I read that you can catch the TGV train to Chambord for the day... I would really like to go there and was wondering how easy it is to get there by train? I read that it only take about an hour... how much does this high speed train cost to go there and back in one day?
Thank you in advance!

I think the closest train station to Chambord is Blois, but Chambord is in the middle of the forest. I think some tours are organised from Blois but you need to check as it may start later in the season.

Chenonceaux is easier - TGV to St Pierre (tours) and then a local train that stops at the end of the driveway!
(I know that wasnt the question, but its nice to have options!)

For the most part, public transportation connections between Paris and the various Loire valley chateaux are %26#39;..clunky..%26#39; at best and train and regional bus service schedules often inconvenient.
To get out to CHATEAU de CHAMBORD, there is SNCF train service from PARIS-Gare d%26#39;Austerlitz to BLOIS and then regional bus service from the the BLOIS SNCF station out to CHATEAU de CHAMBORD (TLC ligne #2--approx. 17 km--35 mins)

Loire chateaux visits are perhaps better done with one of the escorted tour groups from Paris...or via rental car on your own.

Off hand, NO... BU..... a %26#39;trick%26#39; that I%26#39;ve found often works is--
www.ville-xxxxxx.fr ---fill in the city or town between the HYPHEN and the DOT fr
This usually gets you to the Mairie%26#39;s web site and from here there%26#39;s usually a link to the local or regional tourisme office It works for Limoges.

KDK.. thank you I will go do that
