Help with a taxi or shuttle from CDG to Rue 56Mouffetard...

Hello, I have been reading all kinds of post on how to get from the CDG airport to the hotels in Paris. I have found 4 shuttle services online, but am leary due to the well-known poor service in France. Even the online information says there are no guarantees they will wait for you. I have been looking at the Metro system and have found the stop by the hotel Place Monge on line pink line #7. How would I connect to this line from the airport or would a taxi be the best choice for 2 ladies with luggage. We will be coming in on Northwest Air from Detroit.

Take a cab. Very easy. It costs about 50 to 60 euro but if you spilt it, it would be worth it. It is worth it after a long flight.

|||

Last September I took a cab (only use

TAXI PARISIEN) from CDG to the 6th,

(2 people, 4 bags) for E38.50.

|||

Use the Roissybus from CDG. It will take you to Opera Garnier. From here it is a 2 minute walk to the Opera Metro. Line 7 in the direction of Mairie d%26#39;Ivry will take you to Place Monge.

You will be tired when you get to Paris -- take the taxi, it is worth the approximately 40 euros. There are also a number of %26quot;car services%26quot; like we have here in the US, they run about 60 to 70 euros, but they will meet you at the airport with a sign with your name on it, as you exit from the baggage claim area.

You will not want to be bumping your suitcare up and down the metro steps.

Ladies,

If it%26#39;s your first visit --

Take a LICENSED taxi (ask at information in CDG airport). Cost will be 40 to 50 Euro - door to door and safe. DO NOT respond (or even acknowledge) persons in the arrivals hall offering %26quot;taxi%26quot; - they are touts.

Taxi fare is not much more than 2 tickets by train+metro or shuttle bus and it%26#39;s easy, fast(unless you get stuck in rush hour) and door to door (just what you need after a long flight).

Regards and safe trip

John

Assuming you%26#39;re trying to use public transit as much as possible, we have a strongly-preferred route that we recommend without reservation. The hotel you%26#39;re staying at (we know it well) is well UP the hill from the Place Monge Metro station so if you have a lot of luggage, you have some climbing/dragging to do. I%26#39;d recommend spending the extra 5-6 Euro for a taxi from the RER to the hotel. My favorite RER %26quot;sortie%26quot; is Saint Michel/Notre Dame and a taxi from there will be close to the minimum fare to your hotel. Please pardon me for quoting myself from an earlier post:

%26lt;%26lt;If you intend to take a taxi from the RER to your hotel, get off at Saint Michel-Notre Dame and walk toward the %26quot;back end%26quot; of the train after you step onto the platform. i mean the north-end of the platform. Walk to the end of the platform and follow the signs to street-level. There are NO STAIRS, all escalators. When you surface, you simply walk 20 paces and you are standing in one of the most beautiful places in Paris, directly in front of Notre Dame cathedral. The taxi stand there is almost always well stocked and I%26#39;ve never encountered a line or a wait longer than 5 minutes.

The best part is... Your first glimse of Paris is the most beautiful cathedral in the world.

That %26quot;sortie%26quot; from the RER is at the absolute CENTER of Paris so a cab ride will be as reasonably priced as you could hope for. We are amazed at the fact that no one does this. I use this station/sortie several times a week, especially at rush hour. i have never found it to be crowded or rushed. The taxis are always lined up and ready..%26gt;%26gt;

An aside warning on the Roissybus: This could be a one in a thousand problem but the driver gave us an incorrect CDG stop number and we exited the bus with multiple bags and kids only to be left at the wrong stop. Had to find out correct bus to reboard and haul everything around again. Shash48 is smart to carefully do homework before dealing with transportation to and from CDG. Incidentally Shash, on your return, you probably have seen the warnings but it took us about 2-1/4 hours to go through all the lines to make our return flight from CDG after arrival at the correct building. Our experience getting to and leaving from CDG was about the only negative on our trip to this beautiful city.

jimjade3, I%26#39;m pretty sure the RoissyBus only has one stop, behind the Opera on rue Scribe. Maybe you%26#39;re thinking of the AirFrance bus?

Sorry, You were on your way out of Paris, not in...
