Long-Term Stay in Paris

I am planning a long stay in Paris from September to December (about 3 months). I have searched the site for apartment rentals and/or hotel deals, but from the entries, I cannot assess which would be a better deal (i.e., hotel or apartment). I have a budget of about $1,000/month (which I know is low, especially for apartments). I am interested in the 2nd through the 11th districts, but am open to suggestions. I welcome any ideas for inexpensive long-term housing! Thanks so much!

Rentals in Paris are high by comparison with most US cities. $1,000 a month is only a little over $30 a night. I don%26#39;t believe you will find a hotel room for that price, and certainly not one you would want to stay in for 3 months. You are in Youth Hostel territory.

Perhaps you can find an apartment - at best a small studio - that is close to your price, and see if you can get a discount for a long stay. You%26#39;d perhaps have more luck with this in the winter months though. September and even October are still very busy months for hotels and apartment rentals.

I have no doubt you have searched the archives here but if not, search on the word %26quot;apartments.%26quot; There have been many threads on this topic, and many different agencies have been mentioned by one poster or another. You will find lower rents farther from the center, so you may have to consider one of the outer ring of arrondissements too.

Plan B would be to stay for a shorter time, unless you absolutely have to be in Paris for 3 months for some reason.

IrishRovr and Ptegan – thanks to both of you for your replies. I know that my request is difficult, and I appreciate the advice. And Ptegan, I am looking at the links you sent, and one of them may work out very well! Thanks again - I will continue to do my research!

Your welcome :)

There are probably more on that site and i%26#39;m sure that FUSAC can help too.

Hi LadySoloTraveller,

When I was looking for a place, the best (read: cheapest) leads were actually from paris.craigslist.org and the FUSAC %26#39;little ads.%26#39; I contacted lots of companies that rent short-term and was quoted something fairly lower for multiple months, but it was still more than I found with the other sites. If you sublet from someone who actually needs to fill the place while travelling/on holiday, etc., instead of someone interested in making money off of you, you should probably not have much trouble finding a studio or 1 bedroom under 800 Eur/month (at least in those double-digit arrondissements).

Here is the address:

infos@pension-marronniers.com (Pension Marronniers )

The longer you stay the better the discount was what I was told!

Weekend meals are left on a tray for lunch or dinner.

Foolish and Discover - Thanks for the further leads. I am curious about craigslist.org and the FUSAC ads, so I am going to look at those next…and I already sent a note to the Pension Marronniers to check on availability! I am starting to have some level of confidence that I will find exactly what I need – thanks so much for the latest info.
