Packing

What to take to cover basses but travel lightly?

|||

Hi Ctyank, Others will be sure to ask you what dates you will be travelling, for how long and what sort of places you intend to dine at. This helps to make sure out replies supply useful suggestions on what to pack. The other thing you could do while you are waiting for helpful replies is a quick search of this forum (on the space above the titles to the posts) for %26quot;what to wear%26quot; or %26quot;packing%26quot; etc as you will find quite a lot of useful information in older posts (depending on the season of course).

Ctyank,

Yesterday%26#39;s Parisblog said it was still very cool. So, if you are leaving soon I would suggest layers and a heavy sweater. We were in Paris in April--4 years ago--and were very thankful we had long sleeves and sweaters, scarves, etc.

Try looking on Rick Steves%26#39; website at www.ricksteves.com. He has some very good tips on packing light. He goes for two and three weeks at a time with just a backpack! I don%26#39;t think I could be that frugal, but you might find some good information there.

I agree with Faux and others...depending on when you%26#39;re travelling to Paris, you can find a lot of helpful hints by doing a search on TA.

That being said, inorder to travel lightly, start with a 19-20%26quot; carry-on suitcase (check w/ your airline to see what they let you carry on the plane).

Wear your heaviest clothes enroute to your destination.

Be prepared to launder some of your everyday things while travelling (take travel size Woolites). Start with a core color (black, grey, brown, etc) and build on that (I don%26#39;t know if you are a male or female). A pair of slacks and a skirt (or another pair of slacks), a couple of blouses, shirts, a sweater and a coat/jacket (depending on when you%26#39;re leaving). Don%26#39;t forget a scarf (light/heavy depending on time of year) to dress up an outfit. Travel size umbrella to round things out (if applicable).

Medications/vitamins and makeup go in the smaller carry on bag (one that pulls double duty as a handbag and a camera bag) along with other important things.

and off you go!
