Paris to Amsterdam

Hi, I will be needing to get from Paris to Amsterdam. Can you recommend a train or flight that goes direct? Thanks

Most people would recommend that train, as it only takes 4 hours and costs about 98€ at the worst, and less if you can find a discounted fare.

I don%26#39;t think there are any flights due to the value of the train - or if there are, they are none of the bargain airlines. Training is city-center to center, also.

You can buy tickets online at www.sncf.com

Look on this forum for other posts with the details, espec. posted by MorganB.

As travelnutty says, easily the best way to A%26#39;dam is by the high speed train known as the Thalys.

You *can* book tickets on the SNCF site, but it is sometimes balky about international bookings. If you are having problems try the Thalys site, www.thalys.com.

Before you try to buy your ticket, search for MorganB%26#39;s guide to using the SNCF site to purchase train tickets. You will NOT find it in the Paris forum. You need to search in the France forums, the %26quot;parent%26quot; of the Paris forum.

When you are ready to book you should either have the option of printing your ticket, or picking it up in Paris. If for some reason you only have the %26quot;pick up your ticket%26quot; option, you will need to have BOTH the confirmation number AND the SAME credit card you used when making the booking when you go to pick it up.

The other important thing is to NEVER tell the system you are attempting to book from the US. If you do, you will either be told that your purchase cannot be made online or you will automatically be shunted to the Eurorail site - who will happily sell you a ticket at a substantial premium. (And you may find that a %26quot;cookie%26quot; has been placed on your hard drive which will automatically derail further attempts to purchase your ticket online. If this happens, clear your cookie cache.)

You can book up to 90 days ahead and your best chance of getting a discounted fare is to book as early as posssible within that window. At peak travel times discounted fares go fast, but you can often find a cheaper ticket by changing the day or time of your trip.

Good luck!

jasonj3d, in order to print the PREM tickets online, select the country of your residence as %26quot;France%26quot;. SNCF%26#39;s US agent is Rail Europe which marks up the same tickets by alot more than what SNCF charges.
