Bois de Boulogne?

My fiance and I are thinking during our 5 day trip to Paris, we%26#39;d spend time at the Bois de Boulogne rather than take a day trip to Giverny - we want to relax! I keep reading that the Bois de Boulogne is unsafe at night. What about during the day? Is this a good place to sit and read or bring my watercolor set? how about a picnic? Thanks.

It%26#39;s perfectly fine during the day. At night, it becomes the domain of prostitutes.

The Bois de Boulogne is absolutely fine during %26quot;daylight hours%26quot;. Take this literally and you%26#39;ll be fine. It%26#39;s really quite safe in the daytime but after dark and until AFTER sun-up, it%26#39;s to be avoided.

Thanks very much for the reassurance. Is there a particular area of the park that%26#39;s well suited for a picnic or relaxing read? Other suggestions for the park?

Thank you.

If I might recommend a very relaxing place without any of the nighttime baggage of the Bois de Bologne; the Lac de Saint Mandé at the north-end of the Bois de Vincennes would be a zero-worry alternative and far more stress-free if you%26#39;re concerned about the posts regarding the BdB. Very family/neighborhood in nature and without safety challenges. We spend many days there in the warm months. Picnics in the evening are truly magical. There are no issues if your picnic goes till midnight other than the Metro schedule.

That sounds wonderful.. Thanks so much.
