Boat tours on the Seine

I have heard that a boat tour on the seine is worth while whilst i am in Paris?

Or is it just a tourist trap?

Any views would be a help

Bateaux Mouches is a nice way to see a number of famous sights such as Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower from the river and the trip is not expensive at 8 Euros for a 75 minute trip. You can just show up at the pier near Pont d%26#39;Alma on the right bank. It leaves every 30 minutes between 10 am and 11 pm in high season (April to September). Dont plan to dine as I believe it is not great food and is expensive.

You can get to the pier by metro to Alma Marcea metro stop on line 9 and it is close to the Eiffel Tower so you can visit it before or after the boat trip. I would recommend visiting the tower after the trip as you then see the tower as part of the landscape first. The second site shows you the sights you will see on the trip. The island on the far left of the sketch has a Statue of Liberty copy (or maybe original - I am not sure)

I%26#39;ve been on a cruise with the Vedettes de Pont Neuf (boarding besides Square du Vert Galant) in the night, when all the monuments and buildings are lit up. It is a very beautiful trip - only thing I dislike is the everpresent tour-guide blabbering on about the things you pass, but it seems you can%26#39;t aviod that.

benno:

We just came back from Paris last night. We we there about a week and we took TWO boat rides on the Seine.

We took a Bateau-Mouche ride during the day, and a Bateau Parisien at night. My husband loves the water and boating so we made a point to see the city from the water perspective. Both lasted about an hour. We have heard another popular Seine tour boat service is Vedettes du Pont Neuf which is located at the western of the Ile de la Cite.

What a grand way to see the city! Don%26#39;t miss it.

I will be leaving in 2 weeks.

The weather was sunny, but chilly in early morning and once the sun went down. During the day we went for layering...short-sleeved top with a sweater and/or light jacket. I am always cold, but my husband was fine with a shirt and light jacket. The best thing was that we had NO rain. Check weather.com before you leave.

Have a great trip! ton amie

A boat trip is definitely worth it. Plus, you can rest after a hard day of touring.

I%26#39;ve taken both the bateaux mouches boats and the vedettes du pont neuf boats; frankly, I prefer the latter. The area where you get on the Vedettes du Pont Neuf is nicer, the boats are a bit smaller and a bit less crowded, and the price is right! In fact, if you go to their web site www.vedettesdupontneuf.com, you can get an online coupon worth 2 Euros off the regular price of 10 Euros per person.
