Restaurants In Epernay

Hi,

We are driving in Europe and are hoping to stop a night in Epernay - to visit a couple of champagne houses and see some of the vineyards enroute. Are there any resonably priced restaurants in Epernay. We are not looking for Michelin star cuisine - a good pizza is more our thing (hope that doesn%26#39;t offend!). Can you recommend anywhere in Epernay for E15 to E30 per head max including wine? Do we need to reserve?

Thanks for your help.

Here are two suggestions:

Table Kobus

and

Les Berceaux

They%26#39;re maybe a bit more on the expensive side.

Les Berceaux has a lower priced Bistro too.

In the luxury restaurants you might need to reserve but not in other places.

BTW there aren%26#39;t that many hotels in Epernay.

If you are mobile and don%26#39;t mind the drive, or better yet, if one of the champagne houses you are visiting happens to be the Larent Perrier house, then definitely worth experiencing is La Touraine Champenoise: www.touraine-champenoise.com. We were taken there after our tour at LP and were so impessed and lucky to have dined there.

Les Berceaux is local, right in town (Epernay) and was good, %26#39;tho the ambience could%26#39;ve been warmer (seemed slighty stiff the evening we went and pricey). La Briqueterie had a much better ambience and excellent food as well as setting.

I do recall seeing a couple of pizza places in town, but didn%26#39;t get to experience them.

Find Les Berceaux, or No 7. That%26#39;s probably too stiff and expensive for what you%26#39;re after. Within a block or two of there though is a little bistro/pizzeria which is probably what you%26#39;re after. It was brand new last summer and I ate there a couple of times - sorry can%26#39;t remember the name though!!

Le Sardaigne is a fantastic Italian restaurant opposite the fountains by the theatre in Epernay. They have a traditional pizza oven and a wondeful menu offering something for everyone. We have visited this restaurant many times in the past few years and are taking the TVR car club there once again in September.

The locals go there so that must be a good sign. Prices are excellent and they are open on a Sunday evening.

Enjoy!
