Hotel Ares Tour Eiffel

sorry that should have read Hotel Ares Tour Eiffel

Hi Stemcl, I am not sure what the question is about the hotel but here are the tripadvisor reviews if you have not already seen them

tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187147-d197666…

Is there a particular reason you are considering this hotel? It is a bit far out for my own tastes and at 130 Euros a night for a double it is not particularly cheap.

|||

Thank you, I did carefully read the reports and the hotels has offered a quad room at a cost of 155 euro which i think is very good.

It is also near the Tour which is an attraction.

|||

Sorry stemcl, I didn%26#39;t realise that your post was just to recommend the hotel. I just prefer to be closer to the centre and to take a metro, bus or boat to see the Tour Eiffel. The tower is quite a long way from most other sights in Paris and the hotel is a kilometre from the tower and further out.

You can get quad rooms for not much more than that price (eg 170 Euros a night at the Michelet Odeon the centre of St Germain - 6th) and for less (eg 145 Euros at Grand Hotel Jeanne d%26#39;Arc in the Marais - 4th) but not always 4 single beds.

|||

oh dear im sorry i am misleading you.I am not recommending the hotel, i am looking for dvice which you have kindly given me.

I have made a reservation with the hotel but obviuosly i can cancel.

I will look at your suggestions and thank you for your advice

Stemcl, you could also check this forum for other suggestions - just key in quad room to the search at the top of the paris forum links. The Grand Hotel Jeanne d%26#39;Arc is really popular (in a lovely location in the Marais and cheap) and therefore hard to secure a room. Here is its site and that of the Michelet Odeon

parishotels.com/…_le_Marais_star_en.html

I stayed at the Jeanne d%26#39;Arc some years ago and had a quad with two doubles and lots of room around to swing lots of cats - very small bathroom with shower WC and basin but fine. There are nice restaurants in the Place du Marche Ste Catherine a few steps away and it is near rue de Rivoli, Place des Vosges and Ile St Louis.

This is the MO site

This is a really nice hotel in the 13th near the border of the 5th and the southern end of rue Monge and rue Mouffetard and close to a metro to take you to the Seine in a few minutes - room for 4 will be small but 103 Euros and a non smoking hotel with a great name

Stemcl, I stayed at Hotel Ares one year ago and really enjoyed it. It is located on a quiet street, a stone%26#39;s throw from La Motte Picquet-Grenelle Metro station which has 3 key metro lines (Line 8 goes straight to the right bank Place de la Concorde and Opera district, line 10 to St Germain/Latin Quarter, and line 6 will go either NW to the Arc de Triumphe or SE to Gare Montparnasse, Bercy Village and Place D%26#39;Italie. It is not a huge station but it has enough lines that it will be rare for you to have to transfer to another line. It is also on the edge of the 7th district. I could not have been more pleased with the staff there, very nice people. The rooms are a bit roomier than other hotel rooms in Paris. The quad is 2 double beds, I think.

It is not an area with many tourists but more for the locals. There are restaurants/brasseries nearby, but it simply is not an area full of clubs at night. If you want the club scene go to the 6th, 5th or 4th districts. If you want to be away from that, stay here.

I stayed in the 6th the 2nd time around in Paris this year but that was only because I was alone and had plans to meet friends in the evening and could walk to and fro without taking a metro or taxi at night alone. If this is not a concern for you, I%26#39;d still consider this hotel.

During our recent stay we walked a lot around this area and it has a lot of places to eat and lots of interesting little shops.There was also a sunday market underneath the metro line here.I am presuming TXtravelbuff has the right metro station as we did not stay there but used the metro a lot and that name sticks in my mind.
