Just another fashion dilema

I%26#39;m going to Paris June 1-5 with two of my teenage sons. Honestly after reading dozen of posts, I%26#39;m finding myself very preoccupied of what to wear so that I blend in without horrifying the unsuspecting French public. So far I gather everything black, no white shoes, little or no makeup and rip my fake nails off might be a good start.

Now, what about my boys what should they wear? Since we will be in Paris less than 4 days investing in new wardrobe so that all of us can fit a mold is not exactly on my agenda or budget. (and no, my kids do not wear oversized jeans or baseball caps but more casual sporty attire)I even taped some of the reports about the student protests just to study what they all wear and honestly I don%26#39;t see much difference between that and what I would expect to see people wearing in the bigger cities on the east coast this time of the year.

Stop!!! don%26#39;t rip those nails off, ouuuuch....I did that once and it took 2 months for my nails to look normal.

You do not have to invest in a new wardrobe for you or your sons. We saw plenty of youngsters wearing Puma style tennis shoes with fitted Jeans. You%26#39;re right the differences between the youth in Paris and those say in San Francisco are subtle, so please don%26#39;t fret.

As for you, yes the ladies do favour black or darker colors, but so I and a lot of other ladies in the states, so what? Pick a few staples in one of your favorite solid colors and then add a blouse or two in your favorite colors, add a scarf (for effect--only if you favor them at home).. bottom line, have fun picking your wardrobe and pack light, layering is key.

If you wear makeup, wear it then, it%26#39;s YOUR vacation, just leave your jewels at home.

One last thing, the length of your vacation is not clear, nevertheless, anything longer than 4 nights requires 2 pairs of shoes (as you%26#39;ll do a LOT of walking).

Have a wonderful time, hope your sons appreciate th etrip they are about to embark on..
