Help - Booking Flights from Omaha to Paris departing in July

When is the best time to book a flight to Paris. My husband and I will be traveling to Europe for the first time. We are leaving at the end of July and returning middle of August. I haven%26#39;t purchased our flights yet and I getting scared that they will increase in cost. Lately, they seem to be really expensive between 1,000 - 1,300 each round trip. Is that average price? Also, what airline would you recommend?

Thanks in advance for your advice!!!

You may find tickets difficult to obtain for peak travel times (June - Aug) at the prices you are expecting. I should think 1,200 to 1,700 per person would be realistic (depending upon dates and availability). Even at this pricing level, expect limited seating and long lay over delays in between flight segments. I believe you may not want to wait a great deal of time before booking as load factors remain very high across the Atlantic.

For the best price, try:

MMJ,

I am flying to Paris May 2nd from Omaha. I have reservations on American which was the cheapest at the time I made the reservations. We are paying $712 round trip. I just called American Air. Fly to Chicago and then straight to Paris and arrive at 8:30 AM Paris time. That is what we did last time but it was cheaper. I can%26#39;t say what will happen with the rates--I have had ours since February.

Good luck,

Here is another place to try

http://www.mobissimo.com/search_airfare.php

This site compares fares from dozens of other sites to find the lowest fare available.

Your best strategy is to book ASAP. fares for the peak travel season will only go up as seats become scarcer, and they are already scarce.

That doesn%26#39;t seem out of the realm of reason for a trip to Paris in the summer. It%26#39;s going to be expensive.

I live in the Portland, OR area, and often flights out of Seattle are cheaper. It%26#39;s a three-hour drive, but I don%26#39;t mind making it to save a few hundred bucks. Is there another, larger ariport a few hours away?

Try pricing a roundtrip flight to New York (Boston, Atlanta, etc.), then a roundtrip to Paris from there (making sure the times coincide!). You may save some money that way, even if you have to figure in a one-night stay over at the beautiful Newark airport.

How about Priceline, where you bid on the ticket?

My favorite airlines are those not US-based, like British Airways and Air France. The service is better and the alcohol is free (unlike on cost-cutting US airlines).

You%26#39;re not going to like this, but I paid $460 roundtrip from SEA-CDG for a 10-day trip in late-March/early-April. It was cheaper than going to Phoenix. :)

Your prices seem right. I purchased tickets last August for this June/July from Tampa to NY, to CDG and returning from Nice and they were $1100 each. I checked today and the same flights were over $1500 each.
