nice-monaco-eze-st.paul-carcasonne

Hello YMMCA---your pic looks like a wonderful group we enjoyed with the Florida Orchestra in Tampa last week. My question is about the route. Arrive Nice in morning and will overnight and enjoy the city. Next day pick up car and travel to Monaco for half a day and on to Eze for a couple hours, ending the day in St. Paul. Hope to spend the morning in St. Paul and must be in Carcasonne by evening. Is this doable? If so, where do we park in Monaco? I know we can take the train to Monaco and a cab to Eze but need to be in Carcasonne the next night and would like to see St.Paul. Thanks for all the great info on these posts. Tampa Mom

My suggestion would be that you do the Monaco/Eze trip by train and bus, returning to Nice for the night. Next morning, pick up the car, drive to St Paul, and then on to Carcassonne. Driving time from Nice-St Paul-Carcassonne should be around 5 hours if you do almost all of it on the Autoroute.

You can research routes and driving times at

www.viamichelin.com

Using Nice as your starting point, use the customize your route option to give you a stop-over in St Paul and use Carcassonne as your destination.

That way you have no worries about parking in Monte Carlo or Nice, or driving the possibly crowded roads in that area.

Just a thought...

It%26#39;s a very good thought. Thank you for the advice. Tampamom

When we drove to Monaco,we followed the signs for the Palace and there is a huge parking garage near-by.You would then want to drive into Monte Carlo...too far to walk from the Palace.

Enjoy !!

We have walked from the palace to Monte Carlo. It didn%26#39;t take long. Not very far at all.

I would just take the train from Nice.

For those thinking of driving in the area, last Thursday I got on a bus in Villefranche at 3.30pm that took 40 minutes to travel the two miles to Nice port. Weight of traffic was the sole reason for the delay. It is very unusual for this journey to take so long but it does show what can happen at busy times.

Doing Monaco and Eze-Village on the same day is quite easy. I would go the next day to St-Paul, so you can keep some free time for Nice the rest of the day.

If you leave Nice arly in the AM for St-Paul, you could leave for Carcassonne around lunch time. Then ride the highways straight to Carcassonne. Go on www.viamichelin.com to time your trip. I would guess a 5 hrs drive easily by the highways.

Just checked on Michelin%26#39;s site, they say 4.5 hrs on highways. I would say you can cut this if you drive at 130 KmPH. Beware the radars close to Cannes.

Beat you by four days!

Hi

In my experience Michelin travelling times are accurate if the peage is quiet and you can maintain 130kph for extended periods. The first part of your journey from Nice is an invariably busy with numerous speed restrictions. It will also depend on which day you travel. I would say that Nice to Carcasonne might well take 6 hours if not more.
