We are travelling March 8. Can anyone advice on approx cost of taxi/shuttle bus please. And how far how long it takes.

Also husband%26#39;s birthday whilst away any recommendations for a great restaurant where I can spoil him?

Hotel de la Cite for a very classy 4 star atmostphere in the heart of old city (pedestrian area) -- great hotel / great restaurant but not cheap -- another very nice hotel we saw %26quot;inside%26quot; the walled city was, Great Western le Donjon (inconspicuous from the outside but very nice inside 3 1/2 or 4 star %26amp; a little less expensive) -- we stumbled onto both these places while just walking around last November and made a note of what we saw and wish we had stayed there instead. Much of your other inquiry on travel can be answered thru the terrific www.viamichelin.com website and its links and many airports have websites w/ links for taxi%26#39;s etc. ----- have a nice time -- Happy Trails

correction --- %26quot;Best%26quot; Western le Donjon

Just a short drive from Carcassone you will find the town of Pennaultier. There is a wonderful restaurant there , attached to the vineyard, just before you cross the bridge to go into the town.

The food is wonderful, the wine amazing, service excellent. And you can come away with some of the wine you tasted during the evening.

We were there during the summer-will be there again in March.

Wondered how you got on in Carcassonne - how much was the airport taxi, and were they easy to get? Is ther a bus? We%26#39;re going on 10th April, booked into Le Donjon. Concerned about food for fussy kids - any crepes/pizza? Any tips much appreciated.

We had a wonderful time in Carcassonne-we actually stayed in a great gite in Villamoustasou-about a 10 minute drive away- flew into Toulouse and rented a car from there-so no help w/taxi prices for Carcassonne. The airport is very central so it really shouldn%26#39;t be too expensive. Carcassonne-like France generally is very %26#39;kid friendly%26#39;. There are always childrens options, for both lunch and dinner, which should satisfy even the most fussy eaters. Always an option of fries/salad/burger/chicken-plenty of bread.

Have a great time!

Next time you go try Chateau de Cavanac - not spelt correctly - it is superb.
