Honeymoon in France

Hi,

We are getting married this July and are planning our honeymoon in France. Any recomendations on things to do would be helpful. We are flying into Paris on July 15th and would be in France for six days.

We want to visit (1)A Beach with Turquoise waters (secluded would be better) and (2) the French alps. From a little bit of internet search I was thinking of Corsica. Any recommendations on things to do there, which beaches would be good for us, hotels to stay, how to get there etc would be helpful.

Thanks for your suggestions.

If you are in France for only 6 days I would definitely give Corsica a miss. Allowing two or three dayas absolute minimum in Paris would not really leave enough time to visit the French Alps AND a beach destination. My strong advice would be to be much more realistic about what is possible in 6 days otherwise you will ruin your honeymoon!!

I agree with Aardvark as I always do, but hang on a minute... didn%26#39;t someone say that Corsica was like a bit of the Alps that got dropped in the Med?

Oldeil, if you like the look of Corsica from your research (and yes, it%26#39;s even beter than you think!) why not spend five or six days here? The mountains are spectacular, you%26#39;ll get far more seclusion here on the beaches than you%26#39;d get on the Mediterranean Coast of the French mainland. Consider getting an onward flight from Orly to Calvi or Figari and heading for Calvi itself or Bonifaccio.

Thanks for your suggestions, and I agree that we shouldn%26#39;t make it too hectic. We are just flying into Paris and weren%26#39;t sure of how time to spend in paris. We can very well do six days in Corsica itself. The Alps was just cause it may be a cool change of scenary from beach to Hills. But it seems like that may be possible in Corsica itself. Which beaches would you recommend (east coast, west coast, south/north) and which hills/trails. We were hoping that Corsica would be less crowded than Cote De Azur during that time.

How is the weather in July?

Thanks for your suggestions.

It will definitely be less crowded than the Cote d%26#39;Azur, but it won%26#39;t be empty in July. If you%26#39;re interested in doing some walking, I%26#39;d head for Calvi rather than the south. And I%26#39;d advise the west coast rather than the east. The west coast near Calvi has lots of little rocky inlets with sandy beaches - acessible by the little coastal train at that time of year - that goes between Calvi %26amp; Ile Rousse stopping at all the beaches on the way.

For walks - it depends on how energetic you are! You could try a bit of the tough old GR20 which starts in Calinzana, or for day hikes you could walk to the Revellata Lighthouse, or a wonderful downhill stroll from St Antonino to Ile Rousse. You%26#39;ll love it. Hope the wedding goes well!

Thanks for your suggestions. Can you tell which beach near Calvi has turquoise or emerald green waters and white sand. Or do we have to go south to Palombaggia for that.

Also, any recomendations for places for snorkeling and Jet skiing. What would be the best way to get to Loto beach from Calvi. Sorry for asking too many questions but should I plan on renting a car.

We too, will be going to Corsica for our honeymoon, although in June and up to 3 weeks. We%26#39;ll probably be looking for the same things, nice beaches and nice towns. Right now we%26#39;re trying to find rental by the week, and getting a lot of good ideas from this forum.

Hmmh. Not sure about %26quot;emerald green%26quot;. Maybe %26quot;crystal clear blue%26quot; would be a better description. Ile Rousse town beach, Algajola and Ste Restitude are all great.

Our favourite places for snorkelling in the Calvi area are Arinella (about 7km north of Calvi) and nearby Punta Caldanu rocks which are accessible in good weather.

But please please please do not bring jetskis here! They are noisy, dangerous and antisocial. I%26#39;m sure there are places on the mainland that you could use them.

pope 411, please do not rule out Cargese in your selection of resorts. One of my favorites, lots of eating places and a couple of cafes in the town centre and many good hotels. The Hotel St John has a very popular roadside restaurant with great food and open to non-residents. After a visit or two we were always offered a free aperitif with our meal. The beach, about a kilometre outside of the town, is great. The hotel Thalassa is right on this beach.

Hi everyone

I%26#39;m from Corsica so feel free to ask questions. The Balagne area is gorgeous, but just like evry other part. If you rent a car you should see St Florent it%26#39;s a beautiful small harbour and not far away there in the mountains, there%26#39;s a typical Corsican restaurant with delicious food, wonderful view and the place itself is a gem. It%26#39;s called %26quot;Les Bergeries%26quot; and the village is Murato. You should go if you%26#39;re staying in Calvi. As someone said before Cosica in a Mountain in the sea so you%26#39;ve got both mountains and beautiful beaches. You will love it

We too are beach people and have not seen many pics on the web with white sands and turquiose water, any url%26#39;s?? Also, where are the best beaches located with possible hotel or villa on the beach??
