Battlefields - ww1

We are travelling by car to the flanders battlefields area, via eurotunnel, for Easter 2006 (Saturday and Sunday only). We have 2 children, aged 11 and 13. We have a hotel booked on the outskirts of Lille. Internet research indicates we should visit Ypres, Cloth Hall, In Flanders Museum, Menin Gate, Sanctuary Wood/Hill 62, Tyne Cot cemetery, Lille/Wazemmes Sunday market %26amp; Arras, Vimy Ridge. We are concerned that places might be shut or have restricted openings over Easter. Does anyone have any such information? Should we change our proposed itinerary / include something else?

I guess you might already have tried them - both http://www.greatwar.co.uk and the Ypres Tourist information http://www.ieper.be definitely give the impression that museums in that area are open every day except Christmas and New Year. It looks from the Canadian Vimy website that the memorial itself is closed at present, but you can still visit the site. The first time I went to France, I was taken to the French war cemetary, Notre-Dame de Lorette nordmag.fr/patrimoine/…lorette.htm which is the other side of the motorway from Vimy.

Sorry I can%26#39;t give definite info - hope you get something from one of the other forums.

Diz - many thanks for your response. Just returned from visit to WW1 sites Belgium/France. Visited Ypres: Menin Gate at 8pm, Tyne Cot cemetery and had dinner in Ypres. Went on to Lille and visited Wazemmes (Easter) Sunday morning market - very busy, went on to Arras and visited Vimy Ridge (canadian WW1 site). All enjoyed our trip and would recommend to anyone. thanks for your advice.
