Great free exhibits in Paris

I%26#39;m sure that this has been posted before but the messages move so quickly.

There are two delightfull and free exhibits at the Hotel de Ville. The first is a photography exhibit by Willy Ronis that has been extended to May 27th. I ran through it in October just the day before I left and went back to savor it yesterday morning. His photos are a wonderful history of Paris and its culture from the 20%26#39;s to the 90%26#39;s. Marvelous B%26amp;W photos - he tried some color in the 50%26#39;s but went back to B%26amp;W. Also two films - one his background and history, the second a slide show of the photos.

The second exhibit is Paris au Cinema. Great fun! Film back to horse and buggy days up the unpaved Champs Elysees through silent movie days and early and mid century Hollywood to today. At the end there is a fantastic and fairly long set of themed clips.

Highly recommemded for movie buffs - runs though June 30.

Get there early. The aisle is narrow and the lines tend to get long as the day goes on.

Hello Paris,

Say would you know why there are almost no photos in Willy Ronis exhibit during the war years? Did he leave Paris? Just curious if you should know. Thanks

Thanks this is helpful

Ronis was Jewish. I would imagine he left Paris - possibly France - to escape deportation. If he did stay in Paris - or even in Vichy France - he would have had to keep a very low profile, particularly given his political sympathies.
